I got to Shadow Cliffs around 6:30 and was on the water in my kayak by 7. I anchored up on the Stanley Blvd shoreline and soaked bait for hours no action. I hear on the radio that Steve got one and that Robert Bryan got a couple. I hit up Robert for info and I head his way.
As I am into my 2nd or 3rd drift, my trout rod starts to go bendo slowly, so I pick it up, thinking it's a snag. The snag starts pumping - fish on!! It came up relatively easily but it was a battle trying to get it close for netting. The catfish would bulldog me every time it got within range. I still had my second rod out in free spool with the clicker on. I see the fish I'm fighting go towards the other line. I hear the clicker start to go off on the other rod and figure I'm snagged, but I think I'm ok since it's still in freespool. Just get this fish in and clear the tangle later I thought. I finally get the fish in the net and go to clear the other line. The first rod wasn't tangled on this one, so I reel down and get tight to something. Fish on!! Double!! I fight this nicer size fish and net it with the first catfish still in the net! The second catfish ended up being the biggest of the day at 6# 14 3/4oz. Winner winner, catfish dinner!
Dave Harada hooks up not too long after I get my fish in. Here's a video of him fighting his fish:
Not a bad day of fishing! The food was incredible as always and I went home stuffed. Bob Kusumoto won all the raffle prizes.
Nice video and report Tim! Thanks
