Robert Bryan Wins the 2017 Perch Shoot-out

SUNSET STATE BEACH - 21 members of the Southside Anglers gathered together to participate in our annual perch shoot-out at Sunset State Beach. It was a beautiful Fall day, Saturday, October 21st. High surf and a fast current made for a difficult perch bite for some. For others, not so much. Robert Bryan brought back a full limit of five surf perch to the scales to take first place in the event. "I fished it like a river. I found a hole and caught one after another" is what he told me back at the bar-b-que.

Robert's total weight tipped the scale at 3 pounds, 6 1/2 ounce, earning him a cool $170.

Coming in second place was.....Sam Amicay, who somehow was able to bring in two perch weighing 2 pounds 3/4 ounce. Sam doubled his money for his efforts and took home 20 bucks.

In third place was Mike Irino who also brought in two perch weighing 1 pound 14 3/4 ounce and got his entry fee back.

The Big Fish side pot for the day was won by Richard Chew, who only caught one fish, but it was a big one! 1 pound 10 ounce at the scale and it earned him 100 dollars!

For the rest of us who didn't win any money or catch any fish, we still had a good time and ate well! Bob Kusumoto manned the grill and bar-b-qued up some delicious rib-eye steaks for everyone!
